Oak Creek Canyon, Utah

Heading home to Tucson. Through Prescott, Vegas, Salt Lake, Moab, Flag. Quite a week. Wish for another, but having to get back. I stall my return home today, by taking the long way to the Interstate, through Oak Creek Canyon. Knowing this road a bit, I stop before the popular tourist waterfalls and Phoenician summer homes. A few cars drive by, but not many yet. It's early in the day. I walk to the creek and a little beyond I draw a spiral in water on a rock in the creek. Pop a couple of shots. Put the camera away and take out my Native American flute. I play some notes, bend some notes, and then play a tune I learned recently.

"Tis the gift to be simple,
'tis the gift to be free
'tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
It will be in the valley of love and delight."

Simple Gifts all around. A stream. A flute. The air to breathe.
